Lake Country Pickleball Club (LCPC) PARTICIPANT'S WAIVER
RELEASE, PERMISSION, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT
Release. In consideration of being permitted to participate in any way in the LCPC Pickleball Events, I, for myself, my heirs or assigns, hereby release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue Lake Country Pickleball Club (LCPC), its officers, agents, or tournament/event organizers from liability from any and all claims resulting in personal injuries, accidents or illnesses (including death) and property loss arising from, but not limited to, participation in the Events.
Assumption of Risk. Participation in the LCPC Pickleball Events carries with it certain inherent risks that cannot be eliminated regardless of the care taken to avoid injuries. The specific risks include, but are not limited to: 1) minor injuries such as bruises, sprains and dehydration, 2) major injuries such as eye injuries, joint or back injuries, heat stroke, heart attacks, and concussions, and 3) catastrophic injuries such as paralysis and death.
I have read the previous paragraphs and I know, understand and appreciate these and other risks that are inherent in playing pickleball. I assert that my participation is voluntary and that I knowingly assume all such risks.
Indemnification and Hold Harmless. I also agree to indemnify and hold the LCPC and all named above harmless from any and all claims, actions, suits, costs, expenses, damages and liabilities, including attorney’s fees brought as a result of my involvement in the LCPC Pickleball Events.
Use Permission. I also give LCPC and its agents and designees permission to use or distribute, without limitation or obligation, my image, name, voice, and words for any purpose connected with club events, including promotional, marketing, training, informational, and archival uses.
Code of Conduct
Conduct yourself in a courteous and respectful manner both on the courts and
when observing others playing while awaiting your turn. Remember that the
goal is to provide an environment where all players can play the game to the
best of their ability and most importantly “have fun” while doing so. Model
good behavior, lead by example, display respect, and show self-control.
Every player involved in LCPC pickleball pledges as follows:
- I will not
engage in unsportsmanlike conduct or encourage others to do so.
- I will not
engage in any behavior that would endanger the health, safety or well-being of
others.
- I will not engage in the use of profanity.
- I will not engage
in any type of commercial or non-commercial solicitation activities at the
LCPC courts or on any LCPC sponsored communication tools (LCPC GroupMe groups,
Facebook page, eMail address lists, etc.).
- I will treat the facility,
equipment, and others with respect.
- I will exhibit fairness and honesty in
my dealings with others.
- I will observe the Golden Rule of doing unto
others as I would have them do unto me.
- I will always remember that
pickleball is a game, and I am playing it to have FUN.
Failure to abide by
this Code may result in disciplinary action having to be taken by the LCPC.
Significant violations of this Code should be reported to the Board.
Court Etiquette
- Everyone was (or is) a beginner at one time. Everyone
appreciates the time given to “assist” all levels of players with rules, set
up, specific plays, etc. If you are an “advanced” player, please adjust your
style when playing with beginners – work on your short game, work on ball
placement. Mentor and offer advice kindly and with discretion. Do not
intimidate weaker players or dominate a game. Play to have fun.
- Courts 1
and 2 are designated for community play at all times (4 in, 4 out after one game
if others are waiting). Courts 1 and 2 may only be used during LCPC times if
they are not being used by non-LCPC players. The courts must be vacated after
the game is complete if non-LCPC players are waiting to play.
- As a general
rule during any club play, the higher the court number, the higher the expected
level of play. During LCPC times (grey) that are open to all skill levels,
- Courts 3-5, players 3.0 and below
- Courts 6-10, players 3.0 to 3.5
- Courts 11 to 15, players 3.5 to 4.0
- Courts 16 to 20, players 4.0 and above
- Where courts are available at any level and players at another level are
waiting to play, they should use the available court for one game and move
back to their designated courts if there are members of the designated level
waiting to play
- If you are unsure of your level, start at the lower courts
and move up as you feel comfortable and win the majority of games. Please be
patient and understanding…even with these guidelines, there will still be
games with skill level differences. In these cases, please refer to the first
etiquette point above.
- On completion of the first game on a court, losers
of the match must vacate the court. Winners may stay on the court, but are
expected to split up for the next game. For all games thereafter, players who
have been on the court for 2 games must vacate the court to allow for players
who have been waiting to play. If you want to play as a group of 4, please do
so during community (yellow) times as club time is designed to be social and
inviting by rotating 2 in and 2 out at all times.
- Recognize and compliment
your partner and opponents when they make good shots. Apologize for bad or
inappropriate remarks immediately.
- Call out the score every time you serve
so that your opponents can hear the score. Call out your score first, then
the opponents score and, finally, if you are the first server or the second
server.
